A combination of factors from stress to bad eyesight could be responsible for a feeling of exhaustion while traveling. Not acknowledging these factors to fix them, could lead to a worsening of your state and in extreme cases, it could even be responsible for chronic fatigue syndrome. Fortunately, consolidating a top-notch limo service in NY has taught us a thing or two about the ups and downs of traveling. This is why we share our five top tips on how to combat travel fatigue.

  1. Learn to unwind

Traveling can be stressful at times, especially when taking a business trip. You tend to spend your journey worrying, making plans, or thinking what can go wrong. Believe it or not, all these negative thoughts can be incredibly draining for your energy levels. Pay attention when these kinds of thoughts start to take over your mind and find a way to disconnect that works best for you. Watch a movie, read a book, take a nap, but most importantly shift your thoughts into a more positive light.

  1. Get into the right mindset

Changing the direction of your thoughts may prove difficult, especially if you are a worrier. Nevertheless, there is one technique that has been proven to work for most people. Close your eyes and let your thoughts run through your mind. As you get more aware of them, instead of trying to stop them from occurring, try picturing them coming and going, in succession, somewhat like the credits of a movie or clouds in the sky. Focus on observing them from a disconnected point of view, like a spectator. Keep doing this until the anxiety-ridden thoughts start to fade.

  1. Do something new

Sometimes when we are bored, we tend to yawn. This is because our mind is not stimulated enough. The same thing happens with routine. Doing the same thing time and time again will bring about a sense of lethargy and tiredness. Mix things up a little. Even the smallest of changes can contribute to feeling more energetic throughout your trip. Eat dessert first, talk to strangers, watch a movie genre you are not familiar with. The bigger the change, the more excited you will feel, which will, in turn, give you an energy boost.

  1. Go easy on your eyes

With the popularity of computers on the rise, we are tempted to spend more and more time staring at a screen. Everybody’s doing it. However, without the right protection, your eyes could end up suffering. You would be surprised how much the right pair of glasses can help with your fatigue levels. Some people don’t even realize that their low energy is caused by overstraining their eyes. Have a professional test your eyesight and determine what kind of protection you need, if any.

  1. Improve your sleep

You might have heard that New York is the city that never sleeps. We can vouch for that. Our limousine service in New York City is available to early birds and night owls alike. But regardless of the time of day you prefer for traveling, you will inevitably run into a common problem for the frequent traveler, and that is not being able to get quality sleep.

Get better sleep while traveling by trying some of the following tips:

  • Wear comfortable clothes
  • Avoid energizing foods like chocolate
  • Don’t drink caffeinated beverages
  • Try wearing an eye mask
  • Take a neck pillow with you
  • Soothing music or sound effects can help
  • If given a choice, sit in a peaceful area
  • Read something boring
  • Don’t eat too much
  • Turn off your electronics

We hope these tips have been useful to help you deal with travel fatigue and we wish you a pleasant journey, wherever your next destination may take you.
