Packing tips for your next trip

We are quite the experts when it comes to packing given the fact we are a New York ground transportation company, but that doesn’t mean we love it. While we love the idea of a vacation or even a business trip that takes us on a new adventure with our travels, packing and unpacking fall pretty far down the list in terms of things we look forward to doing. Being that our professional chauffeurs spend so much time loading and unloading luggage on our NYC airport shuttle, we’ve learned a few things about packing. The good, the bad, and the ugly are just a few of the things we can share with you before you take the time to pack for your upcoming travels.

Don’t Overpack

First, it does nothing for you. You spend too much time, you expend too much energy, and you don’t get anything in return outside of a hefty airport fee. No trip begins on a good note when you hand over your credit card to an airline employee to pay for that hefty overage charge. You needn’t pack so much stuff, even if you think you need it all. Whether for a vacation or a business trip, there are ways to pack just enough without going overboard.

Do Pick a Color Scheme

If you’re headed to the beach for a family vacation, think bright and bold and simple. Swimsuits and dresses/polo shirts are all you need. If chose one pair of sandals or flip-flops, and a pair of slightly dressier shoes for dinners out, and that’s all you need. If you’re on your way to a business meeting, choose a color scheme such a black and white, navy and pink, or whatever works. Make sure everything you pack is in this color scheme of neutrals so that you needn’t pack 12 pairs of shoes when two is perfect. The more everything matches, the more it can be used over and over without anyone being any wiser. It also means you need fewer accessories in your luggage.

Don’t Pack Large Personal Items

By now you should know that airlines only allow you to bring one Ziploc bag of very small liquids onto your flight, and you must declare it at security. Don’t make the mistake of assuming they won’t realize this if you’re bringing a carry-on. Don’t make the mistake of packing these items with your checked baggage, either. All it takes is one tossed bag to break a bottle of lotion or perfume and ruin everything you packed. You don’t need all that stuff for a few days, so pack small and light and keep it on your person.

Do Remember Clothes Have Several Facets

Before you close your luggage, remember you can pack fewer clothes by packing the right accessories. That blazer, white tee, and skinny jeans can be dressed down with tennis shoes and a fun hat, and it can be dressed up with a long gold necklace, a clutch, and a pair of killer heels.

We know packing isn’t fun, but we also know you’ll enjoy yourself more when you don’t overpack or make any other common packing mistakes. Our professional transportation company consists of trained and expert chauffeurs who want to provide you with the utmost in luxury travel. You can only make it more enjoyable by not paying for overpacked luggage.
