For this year’s Thanksgiving season, you can look forward to lots of great eats and plenty of events to fill up the long weekend. Activities ranging from the parade and charity runs to tons of dining options within the city are just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re wondering which events and restaurants are worth visiting this year, you should definitely read on.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Balloon Inflation

If you’re thinking the parade is all there is to look forward to, you’re very much mistaken. You can enjoy a pre-Turkey Day ritual of strolling about the inflation stations to watch various floats getting inflated. If you arrive later in the day, you can also enjoy the view of already-inflated floats, but you’ll have a larger crowd to deal with.

Venue: American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th St

Time & Date: From 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Thursday (23 Nov 2017)

Admission: Free

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Celebrating 91 years of successful parading in New York, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is still going strong with giant floats, balloons, celebrities and many more. You can choose to sit at home on your comfortable couch and view the event from behind a screen, but nothing beats watching the procession in person.

Venue: American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th St

Time & Date: From 9 a.m. on Thursday (23 Nov 2017)

Admission: Free

Feeding NYC

There are lots we can do to help others in need during the holidays. If you’re up for it, you can register as a volunteer with Feeding NYC to help prepare, package and deliver holiday feasts to more than 35,000 New York City families in need. Currently, though, the only slot available is as a Delivery Team Volunteer, but they’ll also be more than happy to receive your generous donations.

Venue: The Dream Big Foundation, Feeding NYC – P.O. Box 7059, New York, NY 10116

Time & Date: From 10 a.m. on Tuesday (21 Nov 2017)

Admission: Donations required (Only Delivery Team Volunteer Positions Available, ages 18+)
