New York’s Finest Outdoor Attractions

Do you know that looking at something green (by this, we mean naturally green) actually helps to soothe our dry and tired eyes? Of course, you can choose to sit and stare at your home-based plant, but it’s way better to just get outdoors in the wider world and experience nature at its finest. If you’re up for some fresh air and maybe even people-watching, just take a look at some of our New York suggestions down below:

Central Park

If you’ve not stepped foot into this famously stunning landmark, you’re definitely missing out. It was designed to boost surrounding uptown real-estate in the 1860s, but it has since meant a lot more to both locals and visitors alike. There’s usually plenty of free events and activities all year round, but you’ll also find lots of regular runners and outdoor enthusiasts on their daily routine too.

This popular tourist attraction is more than just a place for the departed to rest. Even though it’s a beautiful resting place to about 600,000 individuals, it’s also a green haven for the living. Here, you can enjoy the view from Brooklyn’s highest point, Battle Hill, which can currently be identified by a 7-foot statue of the Roman goddess of wisdom, Minerva.

High Line

When you envision a garden or paradise, you tend to think lower, like on the earth itself. However, the city of New York has clearly outdone themselves with their latest ongoing project, High Line. Nestled atop an abandoned stretch of elevated railroad track, this urban garden project has attracted the attention of both local and international visitors all year round. If you’re interested to know what it’s like to people-watch from such a height, do pay this place a visit.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

It’s one of the most beautiful green locations in Brooklyn. Not only is it home to thousands of trees and plants, there’s also a designated Japanese garden where you can see river turtles too. If you’ve never seen cherry blossoms blooming before this, the best time to visit is in late April or early May. Other than that though, the park is also a great location to explore and enjoy plenty of other native flora.

This fantastic garden is also home to the restored Enid A Haupt Conservatory, a masterpiece of Victorian design in an iron-and-glass edifice. If you’re a fan of trains (or you know someone who is), you’ll definitely want to be around from the months of November to mid-January as the Annual Holiday Train Show will be featuring model trains running around on their tracks through elaborate recreations of New York’s landmarks.
