Stay Focused During Business Travel

business travel, corporate, limo service, limousine serviceBusiness and travel often pull us in different directions. The needs of the traveler for comfort, accommodation and making connections often clash with the requirement for concentration, communication and a calm working environment. This post will give you a few ideas on how to stay more focused during business travel so that you can achieve your goals.

The early bird catches the worm

The only real certainty when you’re traveling for business is that you can’t foresee everything. So don’t try. A much better approach is to get everything done early and to leave space for things not quite coming together. This may sound inefficient but it’s much better than getting caught out thinking you can prep your presentation on the flight just to be sat next to a noisy family.

Deal with distraction

If you can’t predict everything that’s going to happen, you can expect to be distracted during business travel. In the office you may be able to remove sources of distraction and develop routines, on the road you just need to develop coping strategies. Get access to quiet lounges (still some distraction but about the best place to work in an airport), take ear plugs and some calm ‘background’ music to allow you to focus while less desirable things are going on around you. It is also important to, wherever possible, close issues before you start your trip.

The other aspect of dealing with distraction is to accept that some things at your destination will distract you. If you’ve never seen a world famous tourist attraction at your destination perhaps lengthen your trip and invite your family members; this is a better option than letting it get in the way of your work.

Travel smart

If you have to commute or transfer from one destination to another, you should do this in the smartest way possible. This is your time, so seize it. Unless absolutely necessary avoid driving yourself, as it is just unproductive time. Not to mention the stress it will add, finding parking spaces, navigating and dropping off and picking up rental cars.

A sensible option is using a reputable car service. This should minimize time and hassle at the airport and allow you some real focused time during your transfer.
