Where to Watch New Year’s Eve Fireworks in New York for 2016/2017

Posted on: December 27th, 2016 by MTC Limousine

A visit to New York during the holiday season is always something you don’t want to miss. We heartily recommend attending a fireworks display to ring in the new year, especially if you’ll be in New York City. There are several places that are ideal for watching fireworks that offer great views, as well as other festivities that are perfect for celebrating in style.

Times Square

Visitors who want to be in the very midst of all the action will want to head to Times Square, located at Seventh Avenue and Broadway. We recommend getting there as early as possible, with many finding their spot for the night as early as 3 pm. Our drivers know just the right routes to help you arrive in enough time to get the perfect viewing spot. Consider bringing snacks and drinks, as there aren’t any food vendors. Small hourly pyrotechnics displays will help keep everyone ready for the main event at midnight. There will be lots of music from 6 to 11 pm, and everyone will be there to see the ball drop. Be sure to stay around for the whole 25-minute display.

Central Park

There is also a great view of the fireworks from Central Park, at Fifth Avenue and South 72nd Street. The park is also where the party after the Midnight Run takes place. This run starts right at midnight, so if you know anyone participating in the run, you’ll be right there to cheer them on. Anyone who heads over there to watch the fireworks will want to get ready for a lot of dancing and other celebrations that include a countdown. Be prepared to be out late, since the party really gets going right at midnight.

Prospect Park

Another good spot, although with a little less of a party atmosphere, is Prospect Park at Ninth Street and Grand Army Plaza. Many visitors with kids like to come here to see fireworks without coping with huge crowds. One of the biggest enticements to watch the fireworks from here is being able to get free hot cocoa. Music starts at 11 pm, helping to get you prepped for the exciting fireworks display at midnight. Grand Army Plaza is the best vantage point for this display.

Coney Island/Brooklyn

Many visitors enjoy watching the fireworks at Luna Park on Coney Island. The excitement here happens at Steeplechase Plaza, with free rides on the roller coaster and carousel available. There will be plenty of entertainment that includes music, as well as lots of food. The countdown to midnight is one festivity that everyone will want to take part in. Everyone will love the fireworks display here as well.

Another good spot for watching the fireworks is the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge is a good vantage point because it also provides excellent photo opportunities. Organized tours that include interesting information about the history of the bridge are a great way to experience the fireworks.
